Prescriptions
Ordering repeat prescriptions
If you would like your prescription posted back to you, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope and allow for any possible delay in the post.
Please note that you may be asked to see the doctor or nurse before a prescription is repeated.
For repeat items, please allow 2 full working days for processing.
If you are on long term treatment of any kind you will be supplied with a Repeat Prescription Slip to enable you to request a further supply of medication.
It is not possible for your pharmacist to request repeat prescriptions on your behalf. If you wish to re-order medication you must contact the surgery in person, by post or make an online request.
Please allow 48 hours for prescriptions to be ready.
If you wish to use EPS – Electronic Prescription Service you must ensure that you have nominated a convenient pharmacy for collection/delivery. Please order your medications at a minimum, 2 days in advance. You can order your medications via a note to the surgery, via the NHS app or by using online services
Repeat Dispensing
You can arrange to collect your nominated pharmacy. In certain instances, you can be issued with a batch of prescriptions (usually for a 3–6-month period) which you give to your pharmacist.
Repeat prescriptions can also be collected on your behalf by a pharmacist, thus avoiding an unnecessary visit to the surgery. You should request this service from your pharmacist. However, when the prescription is due for renewal, you be be asked to attend the practice for a review or blood tests.
Hospital Prescriptions
NHS prescriptions issued by hospitals are only valid in hospital pharmacies.
Private Prescriptions
Requests for private prescriptions need to individually assessed by your GP. This may involve a fee.
NHS Pre-payment Certificate
If you regularly receive medication and the cost is over £108 per annum you should be able to buy a pre-payment card which will help you minimise your medication cost. You can find out more about this here.
